Dr. Mouna Gunda is a highly skilled and compassionate board-certified endocrinologist dedicated to providing personalized and comprehensive care to her patients. Born and raised in India, she earned her medical degree from the prestigious Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana. Driven by a passion for holistic patient care, Dr. Gunda completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Montgomery campus, where she also served as Chief Resident. She further honed her expertise by completing an Endocrinology Fellowship at UAB.
Dr. Gunda's interest in endocrinology was sparked during her first year of residency when she cared for a young patient newly diagnosed with diabetes. Guiding this patient through understanding and managing a chronic condition ignited her dedication to helping others navigate the complexities of endocrine disorders. She provides attentive, personalized care, recognizing the importance of maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life as her patients age. Her ability to address complex medical needs with empathy and respect makes her a trusted partner in managing health challenges in later years.
With a strong commitment to patient education, Dr. Gunda strives to close knowledge gaps by providing her patients with the most current information on treatments and disease states. By empowering her patients with understanding, she focuses on achieving the best outcomes and quality of life for those under her care.
Dr. Gunda has a particular interest in thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalances. She is adept at diagnosing and managing conditions such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and other thyroid-related issues. Her comprehensive approach ensures that each patient's hormonal health is meticulously evaluated and managed, leading to improved overall well-being.
Prior to joining IMAP, Dr. Gunda worked as an endocrinologist at a private practice in Plano until July 2024. She is excited to bring her expertise and patient-centered approach to IMAP's Frisco location.
Dr. Gunda is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, which keep her connected to the latest advancements in her field. She has also contributed to research focusing on improving patient outcomes in diabetes management.
In her spare time, Dr. Gunda enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and family. She is fluent in English and Telugu, allowing her to serve a diverse patient population effectively.
Dr. Gunda is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to partnering with them on their journey to better health. She does in person and televisit appointments.
